At the crossroads of biological aging: different theories for one same outcome

Patrizia Mecocci, MD, PhD is Full Professor of Gerontology and Geriatrics and Director of the Geriatric Clinic at the University of Perugia, Italy. She has been appointed by Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm as Foreign Adjunct Professor at the Division of Clinical Geriatrics, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences, and Society (NVS). Her research is focused on clinical and neuropsychological aspects of aging and biological studies on aging, particularly on oxidative stress, mitochondria, and biological markers of senescence.

Content and structure

During the session, the speakers will be interviewed on the results of their main research and invited to debate the intersections among the different theories that underlie the processes that lead to aging.
